End your day with a cozy candle lit Restorative Practice that is sure to ease you into your evening and leaving you feeling rested and restored.
Restorative yoga is a relaxing and supported practice that is all about slowing down to restore your body’s natural capacity for health. If you take a restorative class, you may hardly move at all, doing just a few postures in the course of an hour or two. It is a completely different experience than the majority of yoga (yang based) classes offered. It is suitable for practitioners of all levels.
The goals of restorative yoga are physiological rather than physical. Our aim in Restorative Yoga is to affect the nervous system and to relax the body. Although, by affecting the physiological, physical changes will naturally follow suit, we are not targeting the tissues of the body; we are targeting the nerves. We aim to support the body in different positions to relax, encouraging parasympathetic tone, rather than to stretch or strengthen muscles. It is a receptive practice geared toward reprogramming the nervous system rather than an active (catabolic) practice.
